Just saw this movie :)
Granted, I haven't seen the stage production, so I don't have that much to compare it to. But I do think that, while there were a lot of weak spots singing-wise (especially near the beginning), overall the film was fantastic and the live performance + singing was a great combo (gotta say, Anne Hathaway was fantastic - I can count the number of times in a year I cry on one hand and still have fingers to spare, but her last few scenes really did bring out a few tears in me, so this technique really worked for her).
That said, I do agree there were parts of the film that maybe could've done better with some prerecording or post-filming dub-over singing, namely most of Jackman's parts from the beginning (he's a great actor, but even I, as someone whose interest in music is peripheral at best, say his singing needed a lot of help in many of his scenes).
