No. Konrad Adenauer was the first Federal Chancellor of Germany after WW2. Charles de Gaulle was the president of France about the same time. They were the beginn of the so called German-French Friendship, a sort of partnership between the two countries to ensure that the former centuries of wars (of which WW2 was just the biggest) would finally stop and friendly relationships between the countries would be possible

(They succed. Fun Fact the German Press, don't know about the French, nicknamed the partnership beetween Angel Merkel (current German Chancellor) and Nicolas Sarkozy (former French President) Mercozy, to show how good the relationships are now)

That being said, I'm thankful to de Gaulle for the first step in the German-French Friendship, but the way he blocked the predecessor of the European Union and his general anti-europe views makes me disagree with his political views a lot.
