It's not the stage version - it's the film. I expect it to be different. And I think they did a decent job, and it's probably better for not pandering to purists.

+1000 to this entire comment, but this point especially. If they had entirely pandered to the purists, the film probably would not have been enjoyable at all because it wouldn't be accessible to anyone else.
