Fry and Leela are both my favorite characters. I identify more with Leela, though. Which makes sense considering her quote...

I have a pretty huge number of beloved characters who fit that description. Leela, Tony Stark, Spider-Man, Josh Lyman from The West Wing, Jack O'Neill from Stargate SG-1, Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother, Buffy and Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dr Cox from Scrubs, Niles Crane from Frasier, Hawkeye Pierce (actually the whole cast to some extent) from M*A*S*H, the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors...

It's a quote from Futurama: Leela breaks down crying loudly at a school reunion over a bitter disappointment related to her fucked-up childhood and basically embarrasses herself in front of everyone. Fry goes to find her later to see if she's okay (the scene pictured), and she tells him "I'm sorry you had to see that, Fry. I usually keep my sadness pent up inside where it can fester quietly as a mental illness."

I do the same OP and it's nice to think that it's a common character trait, I guess I've never thought about it before.
