I think this is what bugs me about them too. That, and they always seem to cause more drama then they're worth. The one for one of the fandoms I'm in is usually "this is my rambly opinion on x thing" (and is probably a discussion had a week ago and a week ago before that too, we've got some REALLY dead horses)and then the next five are people arguing back and forth about it. In "confession form".

Oh man, this. The DRAMA that happens from someone's opinion makes me boggle. And how up in arms people get, it's so vehement and violent. Makes me keep my mouth shut on tumblr.

Yeah, Tumblr confession blogs made me appreciate F!S a hell of a lot more, ngl.

I sometimes think this too, and plus I've rarely seen any that I find interesting. The inability to comment in any efficient way turns me off of them as well.

This. I love tumblr for a lot of other things, but they just suck for confessions/secrets. I don't want to have to reblog something to my tumblr to comment on it.

I feel the same way about Post Secret. I rather wish that Frank would refuse to post the ones that aren't "proper" secrets. I mean, I get why that's not how it works (exclusionist, stifling creativity, etc), but I just feel like so many people are trying to immunize their opinions to criticism/debate by claiming that they feel persecuted for having them and must therefore keep them secret.

I agree completely. I'm really sad that they seem to have taken over (recently, there were many secrets every day, but there's no denial that the comm was more active before.) On the flip side, at least we don't have ten secrets about one fandom anymore.

Still, I just can't get into confession blogs. I also think that an important part of F!S is the discussion, and I don't really think it works on tumblr, unless maybe someone takes the bait, as with the recent wank on Little Kuriboh's tumblr.

Actually discussion for Tumblr confession blogs works okay in small fandoms where there's usually only one, maybe two conversations going on at once. It's also a good way for the less squeaky wheels in small fandoms to get a word in about things.

For big fandoms I've found the whole thing becomes a big mess pretty quickly.
