It looks like we might not get much wank for this one. I don't think there were really that many people offended by the figures--the offended people were just really, really vocal about it.

Yes. But many people are up in arms not because there are toys in general but that there are toys made from a movie that has an American slavery plot as its main storyline. That to make toys for the movie downplays the horrible history of slavery.

I really hope these things do get made. They are neat and that's what should matter.

It's not fucking Schindler's list or Roots here. This movie wasn't tasteful to begin with and never pretended otherwise. Toys are fine.

Odd thing to make dolls of, but Tarantino films, I guess, are good for collectible stuff because they're usually considered cult affairs, regardless of the setting for them.

Also, only barely related, but they look like rather nice collectibles, quality wise.

I know! People are whining about people "wanting to pretend to be a slave owner" or some stupid thing like that. Do they not understand how these collectibles work? Those will never, ever be out of their little boxes and they certainly won't be played with.

And really, most Quentin Tarantino films have had this sort of merchandise.

To be fair, I know of at least one person who plays with hers, but I highly doubt she's the norm.

I'm a doll collector and I debox all of my shit. I didn't pay money just to throw a bulky box on my shelf. Yeah it damages any resale value, but I'm not really planning to resell them.

My dolls and figures all come out of their packaging, though mostly I just pose them and display them on my desk instead of really playing with them. They're easier to display out of their boxes, take up less space, and I don't really plan on reselling them any time soon.

They're collectible figurines, I would think the people buying them would be doing it out of love for the movie and wanting to collect memorabilia of it rather than "wanting to play slave-owner."

I don't like QT and I didn't like Django Unchained. But really? They're collectables. Isn't there collectables from his other movies? Or at least there's loads of memorabilla.

I like how people assume the uproar over these dolls was started by sjw when that was not the case at all.

I don't think you understand: to be overly offended by these dolls for the stated reasons makes you an SJW.
