In danger of over sharing (...again) I don't have the same experience when it comes to BDSM fics as you do, so maybe it depends on fandoms or where you read them? Also even if you don't like something, does not mean that other people can't like it.

The majority will always rule, but it does not stop the minority from doing something. Or in this case: if the majority want to read the fanfics where after-care is more important, then that is what the majority wants. It does not stop the minority from writing BDSM fanfics with another emphasis... There will only be less of it.
