Songs that fit a fictional character really well

(Anonymous) 2013-02-09 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
We've had a thread about songs that fit a fictional couple really well, but how about songs that just fit a fictional character really well, irregardless of shipping?

Well, it was kind of written for the character (sort of), so I'm not sure if it counts, but I will always stan for Jim's Big Ego's "Seems So Slow".

As for the "sort of", it was written for Barry Allen (2nd Flash), but the first time I saw it, it was for a video with the 3rd Flash, Wally West (in a video for the DCAU), so.. "Sort of."

+100000 I love that song, especially the chorus. Captures the atmosphere of the concept so, so well.

GO's Crowley and to some extent SPN's Crowley, Sympathy for the Devil.

I think I've mentioned this somewhere before, but I've always thought "Helicopters" by the Barenaked Ladies perfectly fits the origin story of Tony Stark almost line-by-line.

(here are the lyrics, btw: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/barenakedladies/helicopters.html)

"Irregardless" isn't a word.

Regardless of your mistake:

"Flawed Design" by Stabilo for Lavi from D.Gray-Man. I found a tribute AMV to him with that song (which is now blocked in the US, goddammit) and it's stuck ever since.

I've always thought that "How Fortunate the Man" by Dead Can Dance fit Snape to a T

The Doctor from Doctor Who is absurdly well-suited to the song "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf, if you handwave away the fact that the song was originally supposed to be about drugs:

I like to dream
Yes, yes right between the sound machine
On a cloud of sound I drift in the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far, flies near
To the stars away from here

Well, you don't know
What we can find
Why don't you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride

That is a good one for him, although I tend to ascribe All These Things That I've Done by The Killers to him more.

This is actually for The Winchester Brothers. I don't ship them but this song sounds like something the Impala would play to their next hunt.

BOY DO I HAVE SOME OF THESE

For One Piece:

Neon Tiger by The Killers for Trafalgar Law (specially considering the theory that he somehow got his crew taken away from him)

Swallow It by Brandon Flowers for Luffy during the aftermath of Marineford

Fog Bound from the PotC soundtrack for Brook

Funhouse by Pink for Perona

For Legend of Zelda:

Cruel Angel's Thesis by Megumi Hayashibara for OoT Link

Frontera by Miranda & Tobar for ST Link

Game by Ayumi Hamasaki for MM Link

Revolution by Masami Okui for OoT Zelda

Divine Comedy's "Woman of the World" really reminds me of Holly Golightly, from Breakfast at Tiffany's (the book more than the movie):

She's a fake - sure, but she's a real fake
On the make! - making up for lost time
Just you wait! - hey, give the girl a break
And a fifty dollar bill will see to that
Heh, that ain't enough to feed the cat
Serve up the rats and super rats
Well they just get fatter while she fades away

"Life on Mars" by David Bowie for Abed Nadir

"She's a Rebel" by Green Day for Britta Perry

"High School Never Ends" by Bowling for Soup for the Study Group in general

"Freakshow" by the Gothic Archies for BBC Sherlock

"All Mine" by Portishead should have been the theme song for Skyfall. (I do love Adele, though.) When I listen to it, it makes me think of Silva creeping on Bond.

I've always liked 'I Won't Back Down' by Tom Petty for Zero from MMX :>

And 'Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down for X in MMZ.

Mild Fire Emblem Awakening late-game spoilers, highlight to read the white font, stuff you may or may not figure out earlier.

Mowgli's Road by Marina and the Diamonds for the Avatar. Especially the first verse: 'One life with one dream on repeat,' 'I'll escape if I try hard enough' (post first cutscene of Chapter 23, where Chrom's not-dead), 'til King of the Jungle calls my bluff' (Future Avatar/Grima showing up). Like holy crap, the whole thing is just kinda...perfect. 'I don't know, don't know, don't know, don't know who I wanna be.' PERFECT.
