Are you serious? Did you miss the "90% gay" part? It's called bisexuality, genius.

Then why do you expect people to know all this about you? Most people are not very knowledgeable of bisexuality. I know, I'm a straight girl who dated a bisexual guy once and I got to learn quite a bit about it. My mother kept insisting that there was no such thing as bisexuality and that it didn't make sense.

No offense, but I think it's unreasonable to expect and then get mad when the average joe doesn't understand this concept. I grew up with gay friends and so meeting my then boyfriend, I was surprised when he told me on our first date, but I accepted it for what it is. You should be upfront about this next time you date a guy or girl. People can't read minds. If you're so open and comfortable with your sexuality then you should tell people you might get into relationships with that you are bi.

No, I just think it's fairly close minded to assume that everyone thinks the way you do. I already said, most people are ignorant of bisexuality. I had heard about it, but never gave it much though prior to dating my boyfriend because it wasn't relevant to my interests. Was I ignorant? Sure. Did I hate bisexual people because of my ignorance? No. But dating him opened up my world a little bit. But it was because he was calm and confident about his sexuality. He said I could ask him any questions I wanted about it and he wouldn't be offended. We ended up having a really great conversation that night and I ended up dating him for 2 months.

I think that the OP is bullshitting about being confident in their sexuality. Confident people wouldn't get mad or frustrated, they would just state it simply to people that they are bi, not making a fuss about it. It is unfortunate, but understandable that OP's boyfriend was shocked. I never would have known my bf was bi and what his preferences were (i.e. how many guys he dated, what he was into, etc.) if he hadn't told me. And we were cool after that.

FYI OP: If you want people to be less ignorant then you should educate them in a non-confrontational way. Just tell people and whatever happens, happens. Don't be afraid of how people will react.
