It wasn't my favorite ep ever, but I certainly thought it was a lot of fun and there were a lot of easter eggs and complex jokes that I only got the second time I watched it and idk. The problem of it was basically that it had too many plots, but I thought the quality of it was fine and the choices they made were at least ballsy instead of weaksauce. I left with a smile on my face.

Community is back and it was serviceably good, much better than some of the shittier episodes Harmon made like jfc what more do you want, fandom :P

This is why I love Community. I feel like every episode is just layers of jokes and weird easter eggs and every time I watch an episode I notice something else I love.

Me too! There were some that were cropping up online shortly after the episode and I immediately had to watch it again because I had missed stuff and it was so exciting!

Yeah, I was definitely expecting more of a departure from the quality we were used to considering all the executive meddling, but this basically met my expectations. Not to mention on a rewatch I found the easter eggs, like you said, but I also found it deliciously bitingly meta about the troubles the show's been through.

No, I do too! I love talking about the show on its own merits, I'm just sick of the bitching about Harmon and "zombie community" because he's not here anymore.

I thought the laugh track stuff was brilliant meta both on the show and on how Abed perceives the people in his life, I thought it was so clever that it served a dual purpose. On another forum I visited I wrote like a novel (well maybe not that much, but a decent amount) all about what it said about Abed and the show and the characters and *keysmash* I love Community. No one responded though because they weren't over their bitchfit yet :/ BUT I FOUND IT FASCINATING.

I'd start exclaiming about it on here but lol I have a lot to say and I feel like I am the only one who finds it interesting.

HA, nuuu, it's all cool. (I actually may be the only person for whom the premiere will actually bring them into the fandom proper; I've been fighting off Trobed plotbunnies all night, just because of the way Troy/Britta is playing out OH MY GOD I could write paragraphs on that.)

Hell, it's embarrassing to admit but your enthusiasm for the show actually brought me back to it (I stopped watching after Paintball 2) and now I am a happily immersed metafan, so if you want to chat, I'm all... ears? Eyes? How does that phrase work on the internet anyway?

I love when that happens - when someone's enthusiasm and love can sort of rub off and bring people in or back to the fandom. It's actually how I end up in a lot of my fandoms, because my friends will just be enjoying it so plainly and you know, I'm happy when my friends are happy and then there's happy feelings association and then I have to dive in and see what all the happy is about.

Me too! I love when fandom is a happy place and I tend to gravitate towards positive people in fandom, which is not easy considering some of the fandoms I inhabit. But the whole point of fandom is enthusiasm for something we love, at least I thought it was, though I think some people enjoy being enthused about hating something to the point of loving it? I'm rambling.

You should post thinky thoughts to your journal! I'd be all over reading that. I'm kind of a half lurker in most fandoms - not wanting to get full into the communities and discussions but loving reading friends interpretations and keysmashing happiness and meta.

Maybe I'll start idk :) I spend a lot of time writing individual emails to my Community peeps and I am on one forum and I'm on tumblr talking with people all the time so I'd probably end up copy-pasting a lot. You could maybe PM me?

This, this, totally this. When the episode first started, I was like, "OH GOD. I KNEW HARMON LEFT. I KNEW PEOPLE KEPT TALKING ABOUT CHANGE. BUT A LAUGH TRACK?!?!?!? DDDDDDDD:" And then slowly I started to suspect, and by the time it was revealed to be Abed's headcanon, I was just like, "Best. Meta. Joke. Ever."
