Re: Medieval literature
(Anonymous) 2013-02-09 09:36 am (UTC)(link)My favorite bit is when they get to some place in Germany (Constance, maybe?) and they have to take a ship to the Holy Land, everyone in her party waits to see which boat she takes passage on, then they all go get a different one. When she sees what they've done, she starts praying and having religious visions (or something) and prophesies that everyone not sailing with her will drown on the way and every one of those poor bastards gives up and changes over to her ship. It's like something out of a medieval Seinfeld episode.
You can tell by her writing style that she's blissfully unaware of how much she irritates everyone forced to be around her while she's describing her travels.
