Pretending like its ok, or less wrong when it's not happening to you or people like you, (and the endless excuses people come up with to justify why it's different when it's happening to 'Them' instead of 'Us') shows a lack of empathy and compassion. The exact type of lack of empathy that has lead to the current situation.
Of course You'll have somthing to respond with to justify why it's ok, or why my point is invalid, and why it's ok to keep on with this particular double standard (has there ever been a double standard through out history that didn't have countless arguments that seem valid to to people benefitting from it?), but please do try to give it some thought from the other side of things before you post.
Seems the whole world would have been a less shitty place if we as a species could get over the 'Them and us' metalitiy.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-09 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)it's not really about hate, though. it's the fact that someone is being diminished as a person, that their own feelings and experiences are being diminished. it's never, ever okay to do that to somebody, and it's not 'worse' to do it to one 'kind' of person over another, just because it's been done more to that 'kind' of people. that mentality is pretty much the root of the problem, even of the intent is different.
