(Anonymous) 2013-02-09 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)But you don't get it. No one's saying it's "worse" than how women are treated. No one's saying it's as bad as how women are treated. No one's saying it's anything even a fraction as bad as how women are treated. But just because it's not anywhere as bad as how women are treated, doesn't mean it's actually good or okay. Like, it's not okay to beat up a guy, even if it's a lot worse to beat up a woman and grope her while calling her gendered slurs.

While you're right about it not being worse, you're not getting why it's upsetting people that they are using a term created for something that happens to WOMEN in a patriarchal society, part of women's oppression, is being used for men. I get the actions are harmful, but they aren't being SLUTSHAMED because they don't have the ability to be. The word slut does not affect them.
If the OP had said "I'm sick and tired of them being treated like they are somehow immature or flawed because they've had many sex partners in the past/being treated like they can't be trusted/need to be in a monogamous relationship to prove their worth" no one would have flipped. It's the equating it to what happens to women that people are upset about
