Complete teen-rated choose-not-to-warn het is the prettiest.

The phrasing of the secret confuses me. Do you mean that you like writing M-rated gen with warnings more than G-rated gen without warnings? Because the icon for gen is in both examples.

The red of the archive warnings would throw me off, I don't think it fits with the two green icons on the right side (wouldn't CNTW make for a prettier colour scheme? Would make it nice and symmetrical).
Now, if it wasn't gen but a femslash story, that would be pretty. Or maybe f/m would work too... *ponder*

Ah, sorry, poor wording :/ I meant "gen" as in "general audiences".

I personally hate the slash blue, it always throws me off. Femslash colour is quite pretty, though.

And I wouldn't like red either, if not for that orange. It balances it somehow. Red+green is a gross, but red+orange+green is one of my favourites.

I hear you on the slash blue. It always sticks out like a sore thumb; I keep wishing that it were just a shade lighter or with a hint of red to fit better with the other colours. Though I think I dislike the cubes from the multi pairings more. It's a great idea in and off itself (though I'm not sure what the green from gen is doing in there as the fact that there are pairings of different gender combinations means that the fic can't be gen, argh), but it looks so displaced and clunky with the other icons. :/

I'd totally agree if it weren't two instances of green on the right. Totally ruins the balance for me. Now, if there were a yellow pairing icon I'd be all over that. I love the effect of colours sliding into each other - red to orange, orange to yellow, yellow to green.... They should have made the multi icon yellow. :/

I have to say, I almost regret the amount of fic I write that doesn't require warnings, just because the blank fourth square makes me feel unbalanced. And for some reason the slash blue always looks so strange against the other colours. Het purple or the pinkish for femslash are better.

And I'm slightly alarmed by how much I actually do think about this.
