It really wasn't a political match on Victoria's side at least. She was super, super into Albert pretty much from the beginning.

Eh...but there's a difference between your family finding a politically suitable partner and you falling for him and getting married and just marrying whomever you please.

There were other candidates that the family found acceptable. (And the king her uncle actually had someone else in mind besides Prince Albert.) She married Albert because she loved/was very attracted to him. He was politically suitable, sure, but it was very much a love match.

But he was a politically good match. We can't be sure that she would have married him if he were a scholar or something.
