Embarrassing fandom questions

(Anonymous) 2013-02-09 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You know how sometimes you don't quite understand something about a show you watch, but you're embarrassed to ask anyone to explain for fear of looking stupid, since everyone else seems to understand?

This is the thread for asking those embarrassing questions without being judged. Carry on!

The entire plot of Fringe. (And yes, I have watched every damn episode.)

Someone please explain. Especially in regards to the last season...

It's all about the power of LOOOOOVE! .... and FAMILY. Family is important too.

... or you know it's all about Peter.

Walter and Peter monkey around with parallel universes. Tragedy ensues.

The writers can't commit to anything, so they invoke the POWER OF LOVE AND WIZARDS to explain their flip-flopping.

Does Doctor Who or Torchwood ever explain how the Face of Boe...um...happened? I thought Jack was a fixed point, as in forever and ever and always coming back to life, not just super-long-lived and resilient?

I don't think they ever did explain it. Gareth David-Lloyd had a rather... interesting theory. He said that a horrible accident severed Jack's head, which was put in a jar and fed Miracle Gro (a bit like the heads in Futurama).

From what I've seen in fandom discussions I don't think Jack is really supposed to be the Face of Boe - it as joke that was thrown in to throw people off.

It was an abandoned idea, not a joke. RTD could never decide how he wanted to write the storyline for it.

Fables!

I don't actually know if the Fables comics (by Bill Willingham) have a fandom, but if they do, and if someone is on F!S who knows them and happens to be caught up...

SPOILER

Why did nobody make a big deal or even seem to notice that Kay was killed by the dark man? He's left behind in the evacuation despite the fact that he at least knew Bigby enough to have favors exchanged, and then he's never mentioned again. IT REALLY BOTHERS ME, because it seems like a strange oversight in a story that otherwise is pretty good at catching and explaining its own plot holes and continuity errors. :/
