So I just spent money I couldn't afford to spend on Fire Emblem: Awakening. I was going to buy it later when/if the price went down, but I have friends telling me that I needed to pick up a copy because they are limited/hard to find/yatta yatta and I managed to find one copy in the entire town so I was persuaded to grab it while I could.

But back to the 'I couldn't afford to spend' part. I'll be able to make up for it in a week or, but I'm still beating myself up for getting it just because I always do that when I buy something over $20. So I guess I'm looking for reassurance? I've heard nothing but good things about the game, and Fire Emblem games tend to shoot up in price after a certain amount of time. Is it going to be worth the 1-3 weeks of scrimping on food?

Don't keep beating yourself up, but make sure this doesn't continue. My shopping addiction was at its worst when my bank account was at its lowest. The low funds were making me depressed so I spent money as a mental escape and it was dangerous. Material things are never worth not being able to afford what you need.

If it makes you feel any better, I totally blew $20 more than I was planning to because I decided to impulse-by Demon's Souls along with preordering Etrian Odyssey 4.

Buying Etrian Odyssey 4 IS good move cause Atlus games always end up being hard to find later, and some of the other Etrian Odyssey games are super rare and expensive now

Amazon. You get an art book and a music CD.

Urgh, all this time later and I am still kicking myself for not picking up Radiant Historia when it was actually on shelves. I wanted to save money and now the price has gone waaay up. >:( So I know how you feel.

My brother bought the game and he loves it so far, so I'd say it's probably very good!

I tend to do this.... about the game, you're right. Fire Emblem games get rare/expensive fast. And Awakening is a great game - I'm almost at the end and can promise you that. And, at least it was a $40 item and not $80 or $100 or something.

Maybe you can cut back in other areas that aren't basic needs, just for a week? And if you're like me, you don't want to make a habit of buying stuff you can't afford - but again, it could have been much worse?

I dropped about 250 bucks on a 3DS and Awakening. I have yet to regret it, except for the fact I may have to call Nintendo and ask for my soul back at some point.

I'm just cutting back on everything else at the moment, which is okay since the only other thing my entertainment budget is for aside from video games is books, and the next book I want isn't out til July in paperback or something like that.
