I honestly don't think anyone should suggest against EVER taking a certain drug when it comes to anti-anxiety / anti-depressants. Different meds work for different people, as every one have different body chemistry. I did fairly well on it, actually. I keep taking it because it cleared my mind enough to think. Before Venlafaxine my thoughts were such a crazy, jumbled mess I couldn't even begin to type anything akin to this paragraph. So yes, it certainly helped me out a lot.

I've taking Venlafaxine for a while now and apparently the effect wears off over time, which is why I had to take higher and higher doses of it. I think I've been on it for such a long time that even withdrawal symptoms of taking it slightly off schedule doesn't affect me anymore. Although, food for though, I'm on the generic Ratio-Venlafaxine, not Effexor XR. When my drugstore accidentally switched me to Teva-Venlafaxine I felt something was wrong (and awful!), and had to switch back to the Ratio generic brand.

As for the vivid dreams, that was a side-effect I rather liked. My dreams have become long and movie-like; it's all very entertaining. It's also become somewhat lucid now. As a creative-type, I appreciate being able to shape my dreams, ha ha.

You are absolutely right; I mean, they wouldn't still prescribe the drug if it didn't work for some people. I guess what I meant to say is that I would never take it again myself, and if a friend told me she was going to start taking it, I would advise her to be very aware of potential problems. I'm glad it works for you. :) It's such a relief to find the drug that finally works!
