I was surprised to watch the music vid and find out this was not the intention.

Speaking as someone who doesn't get it either, can I get a quick recap of the vid to spare myself from watching it?

Adam Levine works at a bank, which is robbed. He escapes with a hot coworker, but then the police start chasing them. (What?) So he ditches her, steals Wiz's car and gets into a police chase.

That...makes the lyrics make absolutely no more sense. I think I'll stick with OP's interpretation.

i want fic of Adam Levine the whinging clingy ex- if only to piss off his fans (let's face it, all his songs are whinging and clinging)

That does make the rap number make more sense. I know it always struck me as really discordant that the song was all sad about the breakup while the rap number comes in to say "screw you, I'm awesome!"

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Because emotions are bad, right? You're not allowed to be sad if someone breaks up with you? Oh, F!S.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
ha ha because being sad and calling so much that the ex has to change their number is the same thing. oh, f!s

I approve of this headcanon.

Ahahahahaha, anon, this is great. Headcanon: accepted!

Next time I have to listen to this fucking song I'm so using this interpretation. XD Thanks OP.

God, I hate Maroon 5 so much. With the sole exception of "Daylight," every single fucking one of their breakup songs is about blaming the other person for all the problems with the relationship. Fuck offfffffffff

I actually do like Maroon 5, but lyrically, their songs piss me off for the same reason. "YOU ARE SO FUCKED UP BUT I CAN'T STOP FUCKING YOU AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT FOR HAVING TITS OMG"

I honestly can't recall the last time I heard a Maroon 5 song that wasn't about that.

Word. I'd like them if all their song lyrics weren't the same useless victim-blaming-esque bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That actually works. Because otherwise the WK part of the song is utterly useless and discordant ...

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!
