The majority of her changes seem to be that she has to put a tiny bit of effort into not being very racist and homophobic (and sexist), so I can't say I mind the changes. I see what you are saying, because there are other things she has changed as well, but the majority of it comes down to that she's a less awful person.

It's okay to change who you are when "who you are" is an awful person. At the show's start, she was a chariacture of villainy; at least now she has some depth and humility to her.

I've haven't seen any episodes past the one the screencap is from, but I really liked that one specifically because it showed her humanity.

Full disclosure: I've never seen this show.

On that note, though, judging on the comments it sounds like she's literally the least likeable person?

I dunno, there are limits to 'Be Yourself' if 'Yourself' is a total asshole. I mean, sure, you could continue being yourself... all *by* yourself.

She's a racist homophobe who verbally abuses her own daughter pretty much daily. It's ridiculous for her to feel like she needs to change herself physically to 'get the guy' (he gave her a makeover IIRC), but on the inside she was pretty darn rotten--and still is, IMHO. Maybe she's coming around, but she's doing it at the behest of her guy and not because she genuinely realizes she's kind of an asshole.

Pedantic point: Goldie (the surrogate) is her grand-daughter, actually.

I have to ask how do you feel she is changing herself. The changes to her appearance where done for her job, and like others have said her personality changes seem to be things like not being openly racist and homophobic.

I've actually known people who made me want to be a better person before, so I'm not opposed to the fictional idea of someone being less of an asshole because of someone else - it does happen.
