Looks neat, though. I don't mind the new look so much if its a prequel.

Exactly. The second I saw "2027" I knew it was a prequel, so the new look for Motoko makes a lot more sense. 2027 is about four years prior to all the stuff that goes on in the manga, anime and movies already out.
