Really? I don't expect people to save things that I've drawn to them and I don't mind if they throw them away. Sometimes tastes just clash. It's not like I love everything that's given to me and save that stuff forever.

If something is a doodle or is on something like a card then I might discard it, but otherwise nope- I save everything.

I don't save all my own artwork for sure (there's too much of it) but I consider personal drawings people have given me to be very special.

If someone gave me something offensive I might get rid of it, but usually it's stuff of my own characters or fanart of characters I like, so even if the drawing skill isn't there I enjoy the sentiment.

Same anon: Also OP just seems to not care how much time and effort may have gone into these drawings and just seems to be coming off as rude to their friend. I can understand discarding a drawing if you kept it for a while and were cleaning house, but to get rid of it right away just seems a bit uncaring.

How is it rude of them to discard their friend's art, though, if the friend never knows about it?

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
not rude, just shitty.

It's the OP's house; she doesn't have to keep stuff in it that she doesn't like. Once someone gives you something, it's yours; you can do what you want with it, including dumping it in the trash.

Still doesn't make them any less of an arse.

lol, i'm guessing you're a buttmad ah-tiste who thinks every doodle they drew in ballpoint on looseleaf is a treasure that should be kept for posterity

I certainly don't expect people to instantly love anything I make/write/etc for them. I'll be sad about it, sure, but I'm not going to take it personally if it's just an issue of clashing tastes. Sometimes different people just like different things. And that's okay.
