If she's like, a bigot or scammer or something then I wouldn't feel too bad. Awful people can be nice.

This is important to remember. People are not black and white in the good and bad department, they are shades of gray. And while yes we can often get different impressions of them in internet versus reality, is that one fandom meetup really enough to know person A is a bitch and person B is really nice?

But I agree with your second paragraph too, if the person who was kind to OP hasn't really done anything all that shitty online, they probably deserve a little more respect then they get.
