That's the part that makes me feel sad, if this fan is being a decent person and being treated like crap, still tries to be kind, still gets treated like crap and now that includes people she's met personally in the fandom...

It is true as said above that there might be more to the story and maybe there is something going on that is hard to defend against (people can be very personable and charming and use that built-up rep to later do something terrible, and there are people like that in fandom who've been caught at it). But if that's not the case and the hate is just overblown, please say something for her, OP. Or to her; even just letting her know you still appreciate what she did then would be nice.
