why is it unfortunate? most people, if not all, face unfair circumstances, rules, or attitudes in their lives. but you can choose to handle it gracefully and not take it out on people around you. and while i don't really blame jasmine for being the way she was, she definitely had some bad attitude at times.

Who did she 'take it out' on? I saw her standing up to the princes who were treating her as an object in the first place, and she did it with firm, clear words and dignity, same as when she was trying to get her father to listen to her side of the issue. She didn't fly into a violent rage. She didn't destroy anyone's property. She didn't direct anything painfully inwards or turn into stalkery backstabbing stereotype. It's okay to not be sweetness and light all the time. It's okay for a girl to directly express anger. That's not automatically 'taking it out' on anybody. More little girls could stand to learn to handle themselves like Jasmine did.

and I'm not even keen on that show

Well, she did kind of set her guard tiger on that one suitor, so her actions weren't limited to words. But guy was such a cruel asshole earlier in the movie (about to whip some kids for getting in his way) that I'm willing to bet he did something to earn it, so overall I agree.

Actually we never see her telling Raja to sic that guy, we just see him walking off with the hole in his pants. Raja could have stepped in all on his own on sensing tension towards his mistress, just like a protective family dog would. Either way the guy probably had it coming.

It's unfortunate because you're perpetuating the idea that women are never supposed to act angry even if they've got the best reasons in the world.
