I agree with number 4 specially: if shit hits the fan, the absolutely worst thing you can do is to keep fanning the flames by answering or replying to anything, like to clear up things, not to defend yourself, nothing

go on a hiatus to avoid the temptation altogether

seriously, wanting to play PR or to straighten things is a losing game with this kind of people

you won't come out with your reputation unscathed, so don't bother trying to save it


I would go as far to say as to abandon the account, or at least not to log in until you are at the point where you honestly don't give a shit about the fallout

the good news is that the people who are worth knowing will spot the drama bullshit and the ones who care aren't worth associating with

once you go back to check on how things unfolded, you can see who was a chill person and who was a drama hungry shark, so if you want to jump back into fandom, you will know who to avoid

also, the satisfaction of having done the right thing, blah blah
