What are some words you hate?

For me - garment burp, pap, choke, renege

Also, I really dislike whinging... which inspired me to write this, since I see it floating around the comm a lot recently. I know it is a common word, I just don't like it.

Exclusive

If there ever was a word that I wanted to punch in the face, it would be that word.

To me that words means someone is always left out.

Supposedly seen somewhere in the UK: "Smarts is the most exclusive disco in town! Everyone welcome."

I like it the most as an adjective for bread, but my mind revels in sensory-inducing use of crusty even in gross situations.

"feels".

Every time I see someone use it instead of "feelings", it really makes me want to reach through the internet and punch them in the face. It's like the western fandom equivalent of "WAI WAI SEPHY-CHAN WA KAWAII DESU ^______^"

Also the word "tummy" irritates me for some reason. Maybe because I've had digestive problems for most of my life, and as a kid, it always seemed so patronizing when a medical professional would try to discuss them and use stupid kiddie words instead of technical terms. No, my "tummy" doesn't hurt, doctor - my STOMACH hurts and I'm feeling nauseated.

Any word that rhymes with -ump except jump.

Well now I've gone off on a tangent listing every word I can think of that rhymes with -ump.

Man, I love the word Thump. I like onomatopoeic words in general. Makes things come alive in my head.

"Tween" as a substitute for a preteen or a young teenager.

Pussy (to mean vagina) because it makes me think of pus, and I don't want to think about pus in connection with my (or anyone's) vagina.

Burp is just ugly.

Juicy.

Internet words like "feels" bother me to a ridiculous degree.

Calvary when it is mistakenly used instead of cavalry. As in: Don't worry, the calvary are coming!

The funny thing is, I see calvary more often than I see cavalry! Someone please tell me that there is some amusing instance of it being used on tv or radio that is being referenced, ho ho ho, as with "I resemble that remark!" - which is almost as infuriating.

Homestuck and any of the idjit words/phrases connected to it, especially in other fandom places. GTFO my fandoms, you single-minded freaks.

I agree with you but 'idjit' is actually as or more annoying than anything homestuck

I hate the word "barf". "Puke" is 1000x better.

Prep/prepped for prepare/prepared/preparation.

'Pass away' for dying. Not in each and every case, but sometimes, death is ugly and messy and not the slightest bit peaceful, and the 'pass away' just doesn't cut it.

I kind of agree, but I'm sure most people use that term for the benefit of the people who are still alive, like the deceased loved ones. I think it's to ease the pain for them emotionally, because they have to carry on living while mourning the death of a loved one; it's a sympathetic gesture.

Person. Particularly coupled with "as a...". I just really really, irrationally dislike the word 'person'. Every once in a while when I read or hear it and a shudder of revulsion goes down my spine.

I'm a little sad no one has mentioned 'moist' yet :( I was so hoping for a little Dead Like Me sidebar chat.

Modesty. I hate that word and everything it stands for.

I can get on board with this.

What if it was the self-conscious kind to cover one's nakedness?

Whump. I think it's too cutesy a word to describe depictions of emotional or physical beat-downs, unless it was used in describe situations that were more comedic in nature.

Lover and Broken has been tainted by years of coming across it in bad fanfic. I just... No.
