Satellite is the standard in rural Canada too. I'm assuming it's the same in rural USA.

Yes, this is true. I live in an area in the US where you have to get satellite or move to a more populated street to get cable.

googling it has shown to me we do have some kind of cable in australian cities but it's not very common, only for paid tv and even in the cities you may not get it????

i live in the city but apaprently my suburb isn't supported by it.
