Re: Anime Recs?

AYRT

Oh, my curiosity is piqued! I've only seen the OAV, and not the series. The OAV has many, many flaws (too short, too sketchy, even though it is rather mouth-watering and Yomiko is likable), I'll check out the TV show!
Thanks.

ROD the TV was my introduction to the franchise (I watched the OAV between episodes 8 and 9 - which was good timing since Anderson showed up in episode 9).

It's certainly not without flaws (I find the second half of the series, when it becomes a direct sequel to the OAV to be significantly weaker than the first half, for instance), but it is delightful for the first half, and not bad for the second half. (It also helps to have read the Read or Die manga, first, though I didn't - that way you get to actually see Nenene and Yomiko interact before Yomiko shows up in the second half.)

My favourite iteration of the franchise is Read or Dream (manga)...though it's a very different beast from Read or Die or either anime. (Less action oriented, no overarching plot until the last volume...)
