The whitewashing thing is because ALL the characters in the book are black (if I remember correctly) yet no movie/series version ever has the balls to represent the characters as they are. Because God forbid we have an all black cast in a show or movie.

And Kreuk is actually playing the one role that in the books was white - or 'pale skinned' anyway and mostly blond, though that character had dark hair.

I believe most of the Earthsea characters are a variety of races, all of which happen not to be white -- apart from the Kargad lands, where they were white. Kristin Kreuk's character was, in fact, Kargish.

brown people don't exist

NOPE!

Most of Earthsea is brown. Le Guin described them as Native American in appearence. There are black and white people in Earthsea but they are a minority.

Can we please stop acting like the only fucking PoC are black! Black people get the most representation of all PoC. Native Americans get NOTHING!
Only one, minor character was black in Earthsea. One main character was white. EVERYONE ELSE IS BROWN/NATIVE AMERICAN.

Stop pretending that everything is about black people. Other PoC deserve a voice too.

Not necessarily black; everyone but the Kargs are an ambiguous (dark) brown. The Kargs are white and VERY much the minority; the main Kargish character is called "the white lady" because she's the ONLY one of importance to the rest of the world.

(also I want a proper adaptation of Earthsea with Levar Burton as Ged. Not gonna happen, but I can dream.)

Oh no! Levar Burton doesn't have the gravitas for that role at all.

I'd like a proper film, rather than telly. Someone like Idris Elba would be great.
