is anyone here good with accents? i'm trying to figure out what mother tongue the VA for the party associate from portal speaks. i was thinking french but i'm really not good with most accents and the VA isn't credited anywhere so i don't know who it is. :S

i thought german at first, namely because of the "escort" bit sounding like someone tacked an umlaut on it, but i really can't tell anymore.

eta: i should add though that i've never heard a german accent that would pronounce "escort" like that tho?? which is why i don't really think it's german. it just sounded like someone stuck an umlaut on there. i don't think a native french speaker would pronounce words like that either though, idk sighs

Educated Eastern European, probably Czech. Maybe Polish. (It sounds eerily like Mark Z. Danielewski's father, which is why I'm saying either Czech of Polish.)

Francophiles speaking English generally don't yod the "u"s in words, since the original French words don't either.

Or a really really badly modulated Standard British English.

do you know where i could find a sample of this guy's voice? i'd like to compare them if i can. i'm really hoping i can nail the accent down, i don't want to be left with just a guess.

DEFINITELY not French. I can't contribute anything else, but not French, in case that was still an option.

no, i ruled that out already. i'm not very familiar with french accents so i looked up examples and decided that wasn't it.

European because it sounds like accented RP English but not like a native English speaker either.

yeah i've definitely narrowed it down to somewhere in europe, but i'm really unfamiliar with accents from certain parts in this region so i'm still at a loss.
