Re: Baking!
FUDGE BROWNIES
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
(optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts - I never make it with walnuts but if you like nuts in brownies it'd be good)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In medium saucepan melt butter over low heat, then add chocolate and melt that too (works better than melting at the same time). Remove from heat; stir in sugar. Blend in eggs and add vanilla. Stir in flour (and nuts); mix well. Spread in greased 8x8x2-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. (Be careful not to overbake) Cool and cut into squares.
They're even better if you sprinkle some semi-sweet chips on top before you bake. This is SO much better than a box mix, and especially after you do it a few times it's really not hard.
(for reference, this is the Better Homes and Gardens recipe from the ancient red plaid cookbook)
