Many people strategically dye, because society says men of a certain age should have some grey. On the flip side, sometimes people come up lucky with the hair genes - my grandma died at 60 with no grey, my mother was in her 50s before they started poking up, and I got hair from my father's family, and went grey at 27.

(I was at a doctor's appointment with my grandfather, and the doctor asked which side of the family my red hair comes from. I was honest: A bottle.)
