Re: I'm about to watch the first Buffy ep (not the unaired pilot)

The first season is rough but remember how long ago it was and they were really trying to figure out what they were doing in the first season.

I think you should get into it by season 2, I still consider season 2 a little on the rough side but it's when Buffy really becomes Buffy.

I'd say if you are into it by season 2 then you can buy the next ones. Once you get into Buffy fandom it's kind of hard to leave.

This. Season 1 is not the greatest season of Buffy. It's the one I've watched the least actually. But in season 2 everything starts kicking off and the show gets 100% better. The ending of season 2 will really made you want to watch season 3 right away in my opinion.

Great to know. I'm always late to fandoms, and nothing really gets outdated for me. If something's good for what it is, then I can enjoy it.

Thanks for your comment! I know there are some shows people tell me to watch at least the first four episodes, and if I'm not into it by then, I won't like it. I know this one will take me a couple of seasons, I just wanted to make sure :)

If I were going to buy Buffy, I'd buy the first five seasons. I would absolutely not spend extra money buying seasons six or seven. Watch them on Netflix, sure. Get the discs with features, you bet. But shell out cash for the DVDs? Not unless I was buying them used and getting an awesome deal. Like, $12 or less.

I think you pretty much can get the seasons for like 12 bucks now- and yep, just looked it up on amazon and the seasons are pretty cheap, even the complete series box set is a lot cheaper then it used to be.

Seasons 6 and 7 are not my favorites but I bought the dvds, granted I bought them long before I had things like netflix but I don't regret owning them, I think it depends on how much a fan you are and how much you like owning complete series. When I am close to owning a whole series I'll usually just go for the whole set or I'll wait for the complete series set.

I get that, about having complete series. But for me, with Buffy, I kind of feel like at the end of season five, you HAVE a complete series. The other two are just like optional bonuses that also make a new whole.

To each their own, I guess.
