Exactly the fandom I was thinking of.

And the even more ridiculous thing is... Caliborn is supposed to embody a certain attitude you find in the Homestuck fandom. Like how Calliope is supposed to be an expy of the fandom portion that kinda (overly) invests themselves in characters and shipping and fanart and stuff, Caliborn is supposed to be an expy for the crueler part, the part that just wants explosions, no girly feel-y mushy stuff, all girls are only bitches for eyecandy, skip to the good (AKA action) parts, that kinda attitude. He is supposed to be sexist. That is what he is based on.

They did the same thing with Cronus. Apparently Hussie is terrible for writing him. Yeah, he is a shitty character. He's a nice guy douchebag and everything. But Hussie never agreed with him, he even pointed out how much of a douche he is. The narrative does not agree with him. All the other characters acknowledge he is terrible (minus one who is, hilariously, an expy for the SJW-tumblr culture). But even so apparently just writing a ~problematic~ character is ~problematic~ in the eyes of some of these idiots.

Way back just after the shooshpapping scene, I saw someone accuse Hussie of homophobia because all the gay crushes and relationships crashed and burned and hiding behind But Not Too Gay with Karkat and Gamzee because moirallegiance is romantic but not sexual. Given that the characters in question were thirteen, I doubt Hussie would canonically confirm them as having any sex at all anyway, and the straight crushes and relationships turned out just as bad if not worse. (Admittedly the one semi-functional relationship at that point was KaRezi, but look how that's turning out now.)

Meh, most of the complaining I've seen about Cronus isn't about the character himself but about the segment of his fanbase that keeps making excuses for him and downplay the shittiness of his behavior.

I have to admit I'm surprised the fandom never made much of an outcry about Equius, Aradia, and the emotion chip. I would be horrified if that was an actually-possible thing that happened to someone, though I admit I don't think Equius is evil for it so much as stupid and unfortunately-taught (he's a thirteen-year-old boy raised in a culture which would praise him for taking advantage of those "below" him).

I swear I hate the word problematic.
