Shaving tips?

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I like to shave my pubes, but I always get those nasty red bumps after a few days from ingrown hairs. Is there any way around this or am I just fucked?

Probably just fucked. Are they really ingrown hairs or just irritated skin? There's also 'razor bumps' that are just an irritation. You could try buzz-cutting with a clipper first, making them as short as possible. Or you could try waxing.

Google ingrown hairs and see if there's some kind of easy fix/solution that you'd never think of - people come up with amazing things.

Rub some conditioner (or Vaseline) over the whole area when you're done shaving ... works wonders.

get looser and/or softer underwear? ingrown hairs appear because of friction, like heavy clothing brushing or pushing against the skin too much or too hard

Ingrown hairs also occur if you have naturally curly hair or shave in the wrong direction. There are a lot of reasons ingrown hairs happen.

Get electric hair clippers. It is the nicest thing I have ever done for myself. I use them every 2-3 days without a guard so I'm clipping all the way down to the skin. I have never had an ingrown hair since I stopped shaving and started clipping. Back when I was shaving, I considered it a good week if I got 4 ingrown hairs or less. I also couldn't shave more than once a week because my skin was so sensitive, but really I should have done it even less often than that.

not OP, but can I ask what type you have?
I've been looking, but some of them I would never let near my crotch for fear of them eating my labia. Lmao.
