The age difference doesn't bother me at all - I'm perfectly happy shipping River with pretty much anyone else tbh - but that, and her fragile mental state, are totally understandable reasons for not wanting to ship her with anyone at all, much less the guy who's least likely to be mindful of those issues.

I'm kind of glad I didn't get into the fandom until late, really. I don't know if I could have taken it when things were actually active!

The age difference wouldn't bother me that much except shes specifically underage maybe not by much but still enough that in addition to her mental condition I have trouble shipping her with anyone on Serenity. And like you said there are additional reasons to not really want her with Jayne specifically.
