It also plays into stereotypes about white women being sheltered/vulnerable (with the obvious contrast being that women of colour are tougher/less vulnerable, which although maybe positive-sounding is part of the whole 'raise white women on a pedestal and look at women of colour as exotic and animalistic' thing that is part of institutional racism.

It's also sexist, because even though there are a shit ton of white men that get on a smug high horse about calling people out and being super-enlightened about all sorts of issues if we characterize them all as women we can safely ignore them because women are just so silly and hysterical, amirite?

Sorry, just, the whole "SJWs are just a bunch of screechy women" thing really, really bugs me. Most of the most obnoxious SJWs I can think of aren't women. Even if they were, saying we should ignore them because they're women is really fucked up.
