Re: I'm about to watch the first Buffy ep (not the unaired pilot)

Yes, you CAN watch season two and be just fine without having seen season one, but I think having those (fairly important moments) just talked about in a bit of exposition versus actually seeing them go down pales in comparison.

Because it's not just about "these actions happened," it's about feeling the characters and having a better understanding of how events affect them and where they're coming from in future episodes.

That's not to say EVERY episode of season one is a great must-watch, but many of them offer valuable insight into not only the people but the stories to come.
