I felt like the teenagers were realistically flawed, and that was why I found them so annoying. Realism hits a little too close to home, even when you're older and wiser. 15 year old me might have felt differently.

Yeah. It's hard for writers to walk the line between realistic teenager who is naturally annoying or a far too mature one who irritates with her perfection and worldliness.

But I think of all the traits that a writer should NOT be giving a teenager, because it makes people hate them immediately, it's selfishness. I think people respond very poorly to selfishness in teenagers in particular, because it's so common amongst them. Korra was terribly selfish and I just couldn't like her in the end, even though I tried hard.

I tend to side with the adult characters because of it, who are usually just a tiny bit too controlling as their main bad trait.

All I wanted was for Mako and probably Korra too to acknowledge they acted kind of shitty and apologize. Is that asking too much?

The show was was pretty bad with giving any of the teens growth. Korra didn't seem to take any of the lessons to heart. Bolin was just forgotten about. Mako never got any depth besides *tragic backstory* and his undying love for Korra. At least Asami got to confront her father.

I think I was willing to forgive that because of the limited time frame in which they also had to build an exciting plot. I'm hoping with the longer season they characters get a little more room to feel the consequences of their actions.
