President's Day was originally created to celebrate the life and times of George Washington, and was held on his birthday. But over time all the Presidents' lives and achievements got squooshed in, so these days it's a collective celebration of ALL Presidential acts... though tbh is really only celebrated it you live in one of their hometowns. It really means nothing to the American populace at large, except that some of us get the day off work.

Also, sales, obviously.
