(Anonymous) 2013-02-16 01:07 am (UTC)(link)It is a common misconception that male on female penetrative rape is drastically more common than other types of rape, which are far less reported for various reasons. Male victims are basically shamed into keeping quiet or told that anything but penetrative anal rape by a man in which the victim does not become aroused isn't rape. Male-on-male rape in war can be used as a method of demoralization and terror. Male-on-male rape in prison may be even more common that male on female rape in the general public.
It's not realism to say women are more likely to be raped. It IS realism for it to be covered up and not discussed.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-16 07:28 am (UTC)(link)Particularly in light of the fact that the men at the wall who were prisoners and criminals do talk about their past criminal activities. They're certainly not avoiding that. There's nothing to suggest that they would cover it up in an insular organization like that. It's not as if they're going to be sent to the Wall for it, after all.
