To address a few things:

1. Women are on birth control for a variety of reasons, including regulating one's period, clearing up acne, helping with cramps, in addition to contraception. Most women aren't taking birth control at the same time daily, so birth control isn't always so effective at preventing pregnancy. It also has zero ability to protect against STIs.

2. Your boyfriend's lack of ability to hold an erection with a condom is likely psychosomatic. My boyfriend has no problem with it, and neither did my last one. I don't particularly give a shit if men hate them - they will be far less happy if I end up pregnant or with an STI from them. Until I am ready to have kids and have a copy of his clean test results from an STI clinic, there will be no love without the glove.

3. Regular enemas and douching are horrible for you. I can't believe you haven't heard this.

4. As many have said, realism can have a place in porn and fanfic. I find using a condom with a partner sexy, as it indicates that the person using the condom cares about his/her partner's health and well being. It's not a requirement for me unless its het sex between two people unwilling to have children and have been together long enough to not have any STIs. But it's still nice. Do you enjoy all of the porn out there that's filled with fake moaning and overly shaved women and no condoms? I really don't - there is zero sense that it's two real people having sex. Hence, my like of realism in fic as well. It doesn't have to adhere perfectly to life - I read Teen Wolf fic, for chrissakes, I'm not THAT worried about it - but it's nice when there are a few added bits of reality.

Different anon - I'd like to add to #2. While yes, it probably is at least partly psychomatic, it might be more than that, too. Sadly, many people still fall for the "It's just not as good with a condom" B.S. with its implied "if you don't do it the way I want to..." threats. Some people don't even realize they're falling for one of the oldest lines in the book.
