See that's what I thought too, but then in the fifth book there's Theon and that priest dude, so he clearly knows it happens. That makes the absence of it on the Wall all the stranger.

The priest of the drowned god, the one on Who Seriously Gives a Shit Greyjoy's ship on ADWD, who complains to his captain about a group of sailors dragging him below and "using him like a woman". The one Seriously Who Gives a Shit a Dance with Dragons was Terrible Greyjoy later throws overboard because he thinks the red priest they find has more power.
