Why is 'Riley' the go-to genderqueer name?

(Anonymous) 2013-02-17 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really curious. Is it just a coincidence that I know (/know of) like five genderqueer people who call themselves Riley?

Maybe because it's a fairly common name for boys and girls? Also, cats, for some reason- I know like four people with cats named Riley.

Unfortunately, I have never met a human Riley that wasn't a complete shithead, however. Male or female or genderqueer.

I've never met a person named Riley and I know an odd amount of genderqueer people. So I don't know, maybe coincidence or maybe I'm just the odd one.

It is a pretty good gender neutral name I guess.

I think it's because it's perfectly unisex, and yet it can sound masculine or feminine depending on the person. It's very fluid.

I mean yeah but there are plenty of other unisex names out there
