I completely agree, which is why when I wrote one for me I focused on the existing characters. There are way too many existing ones to play with and explore and so many more I want to see that I'll probably never see.

I'm sick of the godawful mary sue/gary stu bullshit flying around and it's just lol, some seriously bad shit. But sifting through it all for good stuff is about the same as sifting through the usually heaps of manure.
