I've been intending to play it, since I've heard many good things about it. But I think I may have to give fandom a pass.

Uh, well ... disregard what I said entirely! Purple Hawke definitely seems the most prevalent but again, I like him/her quite a bit. The impression I get is that Paragon Shep is a bit on the dull side (I haven't gotten far with my version of him/her though).

Written badly, Paragon Shepard can be incredibly boring, just like Renegade Shepard can be tooth-grindingly "edgy" and violent - bad writers tend to default to Lawful Boring and Chaotic Stupid.

Written well (and in canon, after you get through the intro slog, which can honestly be boring on replay regardless of which path Shepard you're playing), Paragon Shepard can be just as snarky and interesting as Renegade Shepard, and still makes some incredibly brutal decisions, because someone has to make them and the alternative is worse.
