i wouldn't really call anne rice paranormal romance, definitely not in comparison to the current PR trend.

No, I wouldn't either. But I would definitely say she started the trend of romanticized paranormal sexy guys targeted towards female minds. It naturally evolved into romances from there.

that's probably true...then again, you might say that dracula did that. of course, it was a lot more morbid than what anne rice did with lestat.

Have to agree with the previous anon, if you're going to define paranormal romance that loosely, then you're going to have to go back to Bram Stoker at the very least.
