kinda ot but i think the romance options in 3 are really lame. i went with thane in 2 so with my current shep i can't romance garrus, since he's one of those carry-overs from 2. i picked ashley for the suicide mission over kaidan so he's still alive and... an option, i guess, but what if i'd picked him for the suicide mission instead? i'd be sol for a male romance with a femshep. i don't mind going for a female romance, i'm just bummed out with the lack of choices. plus there's only one male romance option for a male shep, which is even worse. better than 2 i guess on that front and definitely better than nothing but those sure are slim pickings.

i like the games well enough without romance though, i didn't romance anybody in 1.

uhhh more on the subject though i don't think there's anything inherently wrong with console command...ing a relationship?? like i've thought about doing it in skyrim since all the men are ugly and boring.

You know you can romance pretty much anyone you want, regardless of gender, in Skyrim, right?

i actually had no idea, i'd read that marriage wasn't possible to initiate with someone of the same sex so i'd never actually tried ?? but ok i guess i don't need to use the console then @___@

Yeah, as long as you have the amulet of mara you can get your flirt on with all the romantic interests, and set up house.

To clarify (since I misread this post and had a 'what, since when?' reaction), there are a limited (though large) number of romantic options, but none of them are limited to one gender or the other.

(I hope at some point they add a couple Khajiit options...I don't mind romancing outside my race, but it does make me sad that I HAVE to...)

Actually, there's two male romance options for male Shepard in ME3 - Kaidan and Cortez. And considering the only other romance-able male NPC in the game can't be romanced except in carryover by anyone, that isn't bad pickings. (For that game specifically - the franchise as a whole still isn't great for non-straight options.)

oh really?? i didn't know kaidan was an option for male shep. i guess they didn't do too terribly then, i just think there's more than enough female romance options.

Yep, Kaidan's an option for either Shepard in ME3. The uproar was disappointing, but predictable.

The female LIs do outnumber the male LIs by significant margin, yeah. Which is...kind of disappointing, especially given the writers' decision not to carry the story arcs for two of the male LIs through to the end of the game, while the arcs for all of the female LIs are left (potentially, assuming you don't make in-game decisions that end them) intact.

Yeah, FemShep really gets the short end of the stick both in ME 2 and 3.

...And I wouldn't even mind the larger number of female LIs, but Bioware didn't bisexualize (:D) any of the women I would have wanted for my FemShep.
