We've had threads about songs that go with fandom pairings, but anyone have any songs that describe their actual relationships (with a partner, or anyone in your life) or the relationships they would want to have?

Part of me still wants a relationship / life like "Two of Those Too" by Maria Taylor. Even though the song itself makes me feel indescribably sad.

In the good times, my ex and I liked "Paperweight" by Joshua Radin.

I have not-entirely-joked with my fiancé about Taylor Swift's Sparks Fly being one of our songs. The fact that he puts up with this stuff is one reason why I'm keeping him.

I'm not in a relationship, but this song kind of describes how I imagine one I'd want to be in would go.

I occasionally quote Rick Astley to my partner unironically. (I mean, I'm being silly when I continue the lyrics from whatever I've said to spark it, but I do actually mean every word.)

This is kind of weird, but Mexican Blue by Jolie Holland is like my ideal romantic song.

This is kind of weird and gothy-sounding I am sure, but I have always really identified with Love, Love, Love by Of Monsters And Men. It seems to be more about wanting to possess someone than actually loving them.

I love that song. I don't identify with it much personally, but it reminds me of the relationship between two of my characters. Admittedly their relationship isn't the healthiest :\ but I don't think the song has to imply something unhealthy.

SO MUCH OF THIS reminds me of my relationship with my most recent ex. "And I'm the only one who knows that Disneyland's about to close." "And I'll be on the sidelines with my hands tied, watching the show." But most especially: "And tell me, would it kill you? Would it really spoil everything if you didn't blame yourself? Do you know what I mean?"

can't remember what the album was called, but Kelly Clarkson's first one pretty much completely fits my relationship with my ex from when we started dating to after we separated. One of the songs was "our song" when we were together then I had a song that "fit me" that I listened to all the time after I found out she was cheating on me
after that I never touched that album until about two years ago I found it in my room and decided to listen to it and every song I thought "oh my god this fits that old relationship too"

I used to think of "When I'm 64" as being the most romantic song, and really wanted a relationship like that. I'm not as into it anymore, but I still find it more relatable than most love songs.

Halloween (Meg & Dia) - for my twin and I. We sing together lots, and that one just fits. I don't even know if it's meant to be romantic, and it's depressing, but whatever.

Staplegunned (The Spill Canvas) - I ship UST/myself 5ever. No but really, eventually you and I will bone and it will be awesome. If I feel super angsty about it, I listen to -
All Over You (The Spill Canvas).

I Only Have Eyes For You (The Flamingos) - totally what I would slow dance to if anyone ever liked me enough to want to slow dance with me. It took me ages to figure out where I knew it from, but it was a depressing ep of Buffy. Haha.

I have a million songs I have cute relationship feelings about though. So I'll stop here.

I would say me and my partner are a mix of "Any Way You Want It" by Journey and "Thirteen" by Big Star.

Also sometimes I feel the song "I Wanna Grow Old With You" sums up my feelings for her.
